• Write clean, reusable code that’s easier to read and test
• Actively participate in all phases of software engineering including design, development, testing and production release in an Agile environment.
• Build products that perform, scale, are highly available and fault tolerant with automated failover capabilities.
• Contribute novel ideas and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver and improve Blackhawk systems.
• Collaborate with product architects, product owners, and other stakeholders to create great product requirements
• Participate in resolving customer problems effectively through new features as well as improving existing features.

Required:

• Bachelor's degree and at least +2 years of related experience, or an advanced degree without experience, or equivalent work experience.
• Solid programming experience building distributed systems using java technologies and solid understanding of relational databases.
• Core Java backend skills
• Relational Database experience
• Strong computational skills, fluent in data structures, algorithms and design patterns
• Strong knowledge of computing concepts such as service-oriented architecture, REST services, fault tolerance, self-healing, network protocols, network programming, multi-threaded programming, performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Ability to differentiate good and bad, design and coding practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong in self-direction, problem solving and critical thinking.
• Deep passion for providing high quality customer experiences.
• Familiarity with the whole web stack, including protocols
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including RDS and EC2
• Knowledge of CICD Pipeline

Preferred:

• Experience with container-based application development using Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience with DevOps skills
• Web server optimization techniques

Salary Range for California Residents Only: $118,657.00 to $131,500.00

Salary Range for Illinois Residents Only: $78,220.00 to $101,700.00

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Blackhawk Network offers benefits including 401k with employer match, medical, dental, vision, 12 paid holidays in the year 2025, 1 hour of sick pay accrual for every 30 hours worked, parental leave, life insurance, disability insurance, accident and illness insurance, health and dependent care flexible spending accounts, wellness benefits, and flexible time off for all full-time employees.
