Overview:
At the heart of driving value from our network is the ability to transform data into actionable insights, accessible tools, and measurable outcomes. The Director of Data Products will build industry-leading data capabilities that unlock value for BHN, our clients, and end consumers through intelligent data products, self-service analytics platforms, and insights that drive strategic decision-making.
This role reports to the VP of Product for Global Core Services and sits alongside our developer experience & payment platforms. It is responsible for several important outcomes (and associated example metrics):
Build self-service analytics and insights platforms that enable internal teams, clients, and partners to access actionable data in real-time (platform adoption rates, time-to-insight, user satisfaction)
Develop data products that drive enterprise value through predictive analytics, personalization engines, and intelligence layers (revenue impact from data-driven features, model accuracy, feature adoption)
Create client-facing data tools and reporting capabilities that demonstrate ROI and enable program optimization (client retention tied to data tools, data product revenue, engagement metrics)
Establish modern data infrastructure, governance frameworks, and AI/ML capabilities ensuring data quality, compliance, and scalability (data quality scores, model deployment velocity, compliance audit success)
Drive data monetization strategies and embedded analytics offerings that create new revenue streams (data product revenue, API adoption, partner integrations)
Responsibilities:
Lead product strategy for internal and external data products including self-service analytics platforms, embedded reporting, predictive models, and AI-powered insights
Design and deliver client-facing data tools providing actionable insights into consumer behavior, program performance, and competitive benchmarking
Build internal data products and intelligence layers that power personalization, fraud detection, demand forecasting, and optimization across BHN's portfolio
Develop modern data infrastructure strategy including real-time data pipelines, data mesh architecture, and scalable analytics environments
Drive AI/ML product capabilities including recommendation engines, propensity models, and automated insights generation
Establish comprehensive data governance frameworks ensuring compliance with privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and ethical AI principles
Create data democratization strategies enabling self-service access while maintaining security, quality, and appropriate guardrails
Define and implement data monetization strategies including embedded analytics, data-as-a-service offerings, and insights partnerships
Partner with engineering to build scalable data platforms, APIs, and tools serving diverse internal and external stakeholders
Champion a data-driven culture through education, enablement, and demonstrating value through data storytelling
Define business cases for data product investments and collaborate with executive management to develop vision and prioritize growth strategies
Establish data product metrics, KPIs, and measurement frameworks demonstrating business value
Qualifications:
Demonstrated track record of data product management with deep expertise in analytics platforms, business intelligence, and data-driven product development
Strong knowledge of modern data architecture including data warehouses, data lakes, streaming platforms, and cloud-native solutions (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, etc.)
Experience building self-service analytics tools, embedded reporting solutions, and data visualization platforms (Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or similar)
Expertise in AI/ML product development including recommendation systems, predictive analytics, and MLOps practices
Deep understanding of data governance, privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA), PII handling, and ethical AI considerations
Knowledge of data monetization strategies, data-as-a-service models, and embedded analytics partnerships
Understanding of payments and fintech data including transaction analytics, consumer behavior patterns, and fraud detection
Proven ability to translate complex data concepts into accessible products for non-technical users
10-12+ years of total work experience across data products, analytics platforms, business intelligence, or data science
Background in financial services is a strong plus
Entrepreneurial, independent mindset with ability to operate in ambiguous environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present data insights and strategy to executive audiences
International experience and awareness of regional data regulations preferred
Engaging leadership to drive data-driven decision making and product-led mindset into organizational culture with enthusiasm
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related quantitative field required; Master's degree or MBA is a plus
Benefits:
Salary Range for California Residents Only: $184,060.00 to $248,500.00
Salary Range for Illinois Residents Only: $146,290.00 to $197,500.00
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Blackhawk Network offers benefits including 401k with employer match, medical, dental, vision, 12 paid holidays in the year 2025, 1 hour of sick pay accrual for every 30 hours worked, parental leave, life insurance, disability insurance, accident and illness insurance, health and dependent care flexible spending accounts, wellness benefits, and flexible time off for all full-time employees.
